ST. ED'S US GOVERNMENT CLASS RECEIVED A SPECIAL VISIT FROM OHIO REPRESENTATIVE TOM PATTON

On Thursday, seniors in Mr. Sean Cahill's United States Government Class received a visit from Ohio Representative Tom Patton (District 7). Rep. Patton talked to the students about the key role that state legislators play in government and the importance of exercising their right to vote in the November elections - the first opportunity our seniors will have to vote.

Mr. Cahill held a voter registration drive last Thursday to help students of age register to vote for the upcoming election on November 8. Additionally students heard from Judge John Russo about what it means to be an engaged voter and looked at sample ballots to practice before Election Day.

Rep. Patton has been a champion for Catholic education as both an Ohio Senator and Representative, including advocating for the expansion of the Cleveland Scholarship Program, which has positively impacted hundreds of St. Edward students. His visit illustrated for our students the myriad ways in which they can positively impact the community by choosing to make a commitment to public service.
